EADH-day Stipendium / Bursary

The European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH) (http://eadh.org/) offered a bursary of 300 EUR for participants of the 2nd EADH day, which took place at the University of Leipzig from the 7th to the 8th of March 2016.

The bursary winners were Marcello Bolpagni, doctoral candidate at the “Palackého” University in Olomouc (Czech Republic) and Dr. Giacomo Giuntoli from the University of Pisa (Italy), who presented a lightning talk on "Digital mapping of Italian cultural journeys: from Montaigne to Goethe" at the 2nd EADH day.

Congratulations to the two young researchers!

Conditions of eligibility

As the objective of EADH days is to raise awareness for DH research activities beyond the regional conference context and to facilitate exchange and networking initiatives among European DH research communities, only participants from countries other than Germany, Austria or Switzerland are eligible. Participants whose journey to Leipzig is supported by their department / institution should not apply.

Applications can be handed in via ConfTool at the same time as proposals for the EADH day. The deadline for applications is the 21st of February 2016. Application documents include: (1) a one-page CV, (2) a motivation letter which does not only explain why an active participation in the EADH day is desirable but also the reasons for applying for the bursary, and (3) a copy of the proposed contribution (abstract).

Selection of the bursary winner and award of the bursary

The bursary winner will be chosen among the participants whose contribution to the EADH day was accepted and who have registered for the EADH day or the EADH day and the DHd 2016 conference. Selection criteria are (a) the quality of the abstract, especially its originality and innovation potential (scholarly, technical or methodical), and (b) the evidence of need for support provided in the motivation letter. Preference is given to members of EADH, of an EADH Associate Organisation (Associazione per l'Informatica Umanistica e la Cultura Digitale, Digital Humaniora i Norden) or of an EADH Partner Organisation (DH Benelux).

Awardees are committing to deliver a report at the latest two weeks after the 2nd EADH day. The format of the report will be determined together with the EADH panel which is responsible for the reviewing of the proposals. In their motivation letter candidates should already suggest a certain format.

The bursary winner will be notified on February, 28th. She / he will be awarded the bursary during a prize allocation ceremony on Wednesday 9th of March 2016 which is followed by a reception and a buffet.

Questions regarding the bursary can be addressed in German, English or French to: dhd2016@uni-leipzig.de.
